Puerto del Carmen, halfway along the southern coast, is the island’s main resort and stretches for about five kilometres. This is the place for nightlife as well. On the long, soft, sandy beaches at Puerto del Carmen, the sea is generally very calm. Quieter beaches can be found in Playa de los Pocillos and Matagorda.
